So I Saw Need For Speed and an 8-Series Last Night...

The 840i was awesome, the movie.....not so much.

(Not the car in question but close enough)

My friend's dad's 840 in particular is one of only 800 remaining in the world in the Oxford Green color for it's model year(can't remember the year) and one of only 1600 for something else! It is probably the best looking BMW I have ever seen; even better than this orange M3 GTS:

(Dat rear end tho....)

Anyway the movie. To be simple, it was pure car pornography. All those cars were fantastic to see; especially that white 944 at the start(Porsche FTW!), the Camaro SS, a GTO and Torino, and of course that Shelby Mustang and the Agera! All that engine noise was truly fantastic! and the two races in the film were quite good IMO. And the easter eggs! there were some good nods to the games and other things...

(Also Spoiler! The 2015 Mustang gets the LEAST amount of screen time in the film which I reckon is very annoying for anyone that went to see the movie just for the Mustang)

But Geez was that plot/story overly dramatic, too dramatic to be taken seriously if I'm honest. and the story was so easy to predict, I knew what was going to happen before I walked in and even before certain scenes occurred. I honestly think it was an okay movie and definitely worth seeing; but for me, the next time I'll see it is on DVD. It was one of those movies that's so bad, it's good.

NFS likes getting dramatic lately... that was my problem with NFS Rivals... the story was AWFULLY dramatic.. deep voices that made me laugh, not feel serious. But it looks so good!

I haven't played an NFS game since probably Underground 2. But if this is the route they're taking then I reckon it's gonna get old really quick.

I went to go see this last night as well. I was happy they actually have (what I think) is real car sounds.. I hope.

I did like the 2015 though. I really want to see it in person though.

I always liked the 8 series, but I don't think I would ever buy one. Too unreliable and difficult to repair.

Maybe I've gotten ahead of myself-it was an expensive car when new, so that usually translates to expensive repair costs down the line. But if it's well taken care of, it should be OK.

That said, the V8 is going to be more reliable than the V12. That seems to be the rules for German V12s.

Hmmm let's see: 840i had the not so loved but still great V8. Not a bad engine at all, but I guess most would rather have the V12. The M60/M62 V8's aren't very difficult to work on, and you can find help on almost every BMW forum. I don't know much about the V12's except that they can both be had with a 6MT.

Both used a multi link rear axle. Relatively new to BMW at the time.

It didn't sell very well mostly due to global recession in the early 90's (it started at what would now be ~$115k). Pulled from NA in 97' but remained in production for Europe until 99'.

forza is much more sim then arcade. the cop chases in most wanted (esp once you go to the higher levels of cops) were SOOOO much fun. i think the longest one i had was like 45 min long.

Its just after Drive, I want to make sure I'm listening to real car sounds, and not fake. Helps make the story more "believable
